Illustrator comes with a few shape tools, but the raindrop shape isn’t one of them. In this short tutorial I will show you how to create a raindrop shape in Illustrator in 4 steps.
- Start by drawing a circle with the Ellipse Tool (L). Hold Shift to make a perfect circle.
- Next, use the Direct Selection Tool (A) to select and pull the top anchor of the circle upward to create an egg-like shape.
- The next step is to convert the top anchor point of the now egg-like shape from a curve to a sharp point using the Anchor Point Tool (Shift-C). With the Anchor Point Tool selected, simply click the top anchor point.
- Finally, using the Direct Selection Tool (A), adjust the handles of the side anchor points as needed in order to round out the raindrop shape. Hold shift to make sure you adjust in a straight line.
